Our Mission
Provide new stuffed animals to children who have experienced a life-threatening illness, traumatic event or are at risk.
Our History
Hugaroo, Inc. began as a gesture of love and caring that blossomed through a Girl Scout Gold Award project. Hugaroo is a humanitarian effort to provide new stuffed animals to organizations helping children heal during illnesses or traumatic conditions.
From inspired beginnings as Adam’s Animals and through the dedicated work of Jenna Thrasher (Harper), in memory of her sister Morgan who succumbed to cancer at 17, Hugaroo endeavors to provide stuffed animals to children where and when they need them most. Adam, Morgan, and countless other children have found great comfort in having a stuffed animal to hug and keep them company throughout their recovery and treatments. The initial new stuffed animal fundraising drive collected 348 stuffed animals that were presented to the children at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte, NC, in 2005. We continue to operate in Charlotte Metroplex & Triangle Metroplex NC, South Carolina Lowcountry, Georgia, West Virginia & Colorado, collecting stuffed animals to provide these essential hugs. |
